The original site for BingbingLi.com was placed up on April 16th, 2008, two days prior to the release of the movie, The Forbidden Kingdom (2008), which stars Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Bingbing Li, Yifei Liu, Michael Angarano and several other stars. What was interesting was how quickly people responded to the website. At first the traffic to the site was slow, but after the movie released the numbers have increased steadily in just a few weeks’ time.
This may not be such a surprised to veterans of Chinese cinema since Bingbing Li (in Asian, Li Bingbing), has been a star on the rise for the last ten odd years. But for those audiences in the western world it is like seeing a new star being born. If Forbidden Kingdom continues to do great business at the box office hopefully Bingbing Li will be able to establish a very strong presence in the United States. From what I have gathered from reading online posts she is a very, VERY popular actress in Asia. And when I say “actress” I truly mean it. From what I have read about her she has a wonderful personality and is an incredible actress.
Hopefully we in the Western hemisphere will be blessed with the good fortune of seeing her in many more productions. It would be great to see Bingbing following in the footsteps of Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh in finding some parts in the west that are worthy of her efforts.
The Old and The New
As I mentioned the old version was placed up on April 16th, but since then I have been working on getting the gallery together, and a newer version of the site. Much of the pictures I have found online were from Silent Moneys‘ Flickr account. But as time has rolled on I have seen more and more fans coming out of the woodwork across the internet to provide even more enjoyable pictures of Miss Li. If you happen to have any news tidbits you wish to share and/or pictures that I can use on this site please feel free to contact us via the Contact Us page.
The new site is different in that it is a blog, while the original was simply a single page, with a couple of iframed polls running through the page. The newer version is set up so I can post late breaking news as discovered on the net about Miss Li.

I would recommend you go to LiBingbing.net whenever you feel like it. Like for instance every hour on the hour…. just as an example. But seriously, I would love to see her succeed in the U.S. and see more Asians and Asian Americans succeeding in Hollywood. Bingbing Li is one of those actresses whom I hope will make it to the U.S. and have enormous success here. Isn’t is about time?
