According to Sina.com.cn, Miss Li Bingbing was interviewed regarding a few topics related to casting and her new film, Detective Dee. In respect to the most recent rumors and speculations regarding the casting of the new film, “Fugative,” Miss Li is apparently still awaiting news regarding the casting. So at this time things may still be in the works regarding the casting of that film. Her most recently to-be-released film, “Detective Dee” is apparently the only Chinese film to be nominated at the 67th Venice Film Festival. According to the article, Miss Li expressed that she was very surprised and pleased by the news. When pressed further as to the prospects of Miss Li winning a Best Actress award, she proved to be very modest (and tactful) in her response: she mentioned she would be “very happy”, but also that if she did win she would be happy that the award would help promote Chinese films around the world.

An advocate of Yoga, Miss Li called for women to join in the self-improvement movement, but being healthier. Miss Li formally signed up with Adidas last March and has launched a series of yoga and dance-themed print ads. To paraphrase the article, Miss Li attributes this “Be Better” campaign with helping her to also become more mentally and physically stronger which has only helped her perform better in front of the camera.

In China the new “Karate Kid” movie is known as “Kung-Fu Dreams” — which quite honestly makes a lot more sense especially if you are going to market it to a Chinese audience. Showing her support for her friend Jackie Chan, Miss Li was present at the event to help promote the film. According to sina.com.cn, new movie, Triple Tap (2010) starring Miss Li Bingbing, Daniel Woo, Louis Koo and Charlene Choi, is now being publicized with the following posters. According to Internet Movie Database (IMDb), the story deals with a cop and a competitive marksman. The following is a movie description submitted to the site:
Champion competitive marksman Ken comes across an armored van robbery. He sees a policeman held hostage and shoots and kills four of the robbers. One of the robbers escapes and the policeman survives. The case is handled by Jerry Chang, whom Ken knows from having recently beaten him in a shooting match. Ken is found not guilty in court. Soon after, Ken is attacked by the escaped robber Pang Tao. Their confrontation reveals a very different background story and brings about a myriad of lies and traps and changes in relationships as Jerry and Ken try to outsmart each other.
This sounds like a winner of a concept. It should be interesting to see how it does when it is released later this year. More images in the gallery.

Perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of this night was that Miss Li was given an award by Miss Fan Bingbing (the two actresses have often been considered rivals and at odds with each other due to the similarity in their names.) After wrapping up production on her latest film, Snow and the Secret Fan, Miss Li Bingbing made a special trip to Shanghai helped in the project to plant one million evergreen trees. This is part of the initiative to plant one million evergreens to create the Green Great Wall of threes that will help protect the environment. These trees will be planted in Northern China and will help fight against global warming.

In this video she first approaches the cardboard box where the tiger cub is with a little caution. But after the cub is tatken out of the box it proves to be a very fun experience for the actress as she holds the cub.

Li Bingbing celebrates Earth Hour at the Beijing Palace Museum

At 8:30PM on March 27th, 2010, Earth Hour takes place. Throughout the world people are encouraged to turn off their lights for an hour. Miss Li Bingbing was at the Beijing Palace Museum to celebrate this event which was also celebrated on the Empire State Building in New York, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, as well as other prominent locations throughout the world. Known as China’s “Environmental Protection Business Card”, Miss Li was present wearing a white windbreaker along with the thousands of spectators who were on hand to witness the lights out event.
According to the article written on Sina.com.cn, this is the fourth consecutive year in which this event has been celebrated and is hosted by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWFN). People throughout are encouraged to participate as over an estimated 6,000 cities are involved. To paraphrase Miss Li’s comments on the matter: [the] “lights out for an hour” activities, while it will not solve all problems, [it will hopefully] increase awareness of environmental protection. As long as we can start from [there], the human living environment will certainly be improved, [and a] green earth would be more viable.”

On March 22, 2010, Miss Li Bingbing attended the Fourth Asian Film Awards at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. According to Sina.com.cn, this year’s awards were very scattered with Korean movie “Mother” taking the top award, and Director Lu Chuan receiving the Best Director award for his film, “Nanjing! Nanjing!” Kara Hui won the best supporting actress for “Heart Magic,” and Nicholas Tse won the best supporting actor award and thanked his wife for being so patient and understanding.
