At this time when people throughout the world are looking for reasons to stay positive amidst the economic downturn in the global economy, it is important to remember that sometimes the strongest force we have are our beliefs. They can lift us, sustain us, help us endure that which we believe can not endure, give us hope and an inner strength to continue despite the greatest of odds.

Our dreams can do that. Our convictions can make this happen. And our love and passion can enoble us, strengthen us and help us move forward. But on top of that comes the need to believe in ourselves and to realize that all dreams are attainable.

This last part is something that is accomplished through the selfless autobiography that Li Bingbing has provided explaining her humble origins, her growth from a young girl in China, the heartbreaks, setbacks, lessons and continuing struggles that took her from a state of awkward youth to one of the leading stars in Asia. While cruising Wikipedia,org, a very interesting article about Bingbing Li showed up recently which while brief seems to resonate with her on screen pleasant nature. The full article is found at http://www.china.org.cn where the writer describes how Bingbing Li was originally planning on being a elementary school teacher, however according to the article (which is written in English), Bingbing was encouraged to apply for the Shanghai Drama Institute due to her deep love for the arts. Despite the fact that her family was facing financial burdens at the time due to her father’s medical bills she was encouraged by her father to pursue the arts. The rest of the story is pretty interesting:

Li had her acting debut in a television serial when she was a sophomore. She played a role that required a wide variety emotions and a long span of age, from 15 to 30. With the help of the experienced actors and actresses of the cast, she turned in a successful performance.

Since then, Li has acted in many films and television plays. The more the roles, she says, the more the opportunity for practice and the greater the progress. She doesn’t care whether the role is major or minor. What counts for her is the personality of the character.

Li keeps a diary in spite of a tight work schedule. In her leisure time, she stays at home, tidying up her room and reading books. During her breaks from acting, she rarely puts on makeup and never goes to beauty parlors. Beauty, she says, stems from a good mood.

What is the most charming aspect of Bingbing Li seems to be her honest, sweet personality. We can only hope she continues to make waves here in the U.S.
