According to Sina.com.cn, Miss Li Bingbing has been quoted as always saying that she is “dumb,” and not talented. It seems she attributes her success to hard work rather than talent. Given her success in recent years that seems hardly the case as her efforts have proven her to be extremely talented as an actress. However her modesty prevails as she continues to strive to do her best.

According to Sina.com.cn, Li Bingbing is rumored to be replacing Zhang Ziyi in the Wayne Wang film, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. The movie is currently in pre-production with Hugh Jackman already attached. The movie is based on the novel by Lisa See. The story tells the relationship between two Chinese women in the 19th century who have to endure the customs of the time where women’s feet were bound and they spent their lives in seclusion. The following is an excerpt from the synopsis of the book on Miss See’s site:
This absorbing novel – with a storyline unlike anything Lisa See has written before – takes place in 19th century China when girls had their feet bound, then spent the rest of their lives in seclusion with only a single window from which to see. Illiterate and isolated, they were not expected to think, be creative, or have emotions. But in one remote county, women developed their own secret code, nu shu – “women’s writing” – the only gender-based written language to have been found in the world. Some girls were paired as “old-sames” in emotional matches that lasted throughout their lives. They painted letters on fans, embroidered messages on handkerchiefs, and composed stories, thereby reaching out of their windows to share their hopes, dreams, and accomplishments.
An old woman tells of her relationship with her “old-same,” their arranged marriages, and the joys and tragedies of motherhood—until a terrible misunderstanding written on their secret fan threatens to tear them apart. With the detail and emotional resonance of Memoirs of a Geisha , Snow Flower and the Secret Fan delves into one of the most mysterious and treasured relationships of all time—female friendship.
According to bloggers on Sina.com.cn, Miss Li Bingbing recently shot a new commercial in Taiwan for an Oolong Tea brand. The pictures have been added to the gallery.
By the time most people in the West read this it will already be 2010 in Beijing. So a very early Happy New Year from the fans at BingbingLi.com. We wish everyone a happy, safe, and healthy new year. And while we are talking about health according to one blogger on Sina.com.cn, Miss Li Bingbing is apparently also making some news about her own New Years plans which will focus on being healthier this year. That means eating less red meats, sleeping more (actors in China are notorious workaholics and Miss Li is no exception) and studying Chinese medicine.
More can be read in Chinese at the link provided.
In closing it is still rather impressive how Miss Li’s actions have served as an example for others to follow. While many celebrities use their influence simply to promote themselves and their movies, Miss Li has been showing a modesty and selfless compassion when helping others and serving as a good example. Making these health choices public is a good step to inspiring others to do likewise which can only have a positive effect on people everywhere. It is Miss Li’s natural born leadership? We think so. (But then again we at Bingbingli.com may be a bit biased. ) In any case, have a Happy New Year. If more articles come along in the next twenty-four hours we will do our best to put it up. In the meantime have a happy and productive day.
In November 2009, Miss Li was named by the Chinese government as one of the top promoters of environmental causes. These pictures (from sina.com.cn) have also been added to the gallery. Enjoy.
This motion picture, Feng Sheng (a.k.a. “The Message”) has yet to be released in the West, however it has already made quite a splash in Asia. It is for her performance in this film that Miss Li Bingbing won the Best Actress Award at this year’s Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan. These pictures were gleaned from Sina.com.cn. Given how well it has done in Asia it should make one pause as to the reasons why this movie’s release has been delayed elsewhere. More pictures can be seen in the gallery. Enjoy.
A blogger on Sina.com.cn recently wrote about Miss Li Bingbing who visited South Korea a while ago as a cultural ambassador between the two nations of China and South Korea. As a result her activities were aimed at setting a good example for others but also to help raise money for the children who were affected by the Chinese Earthquake last year. These pictures are in keeping with her general style which has exuded a great deal of charm, beauty and class. More pictures are in the gallery section. Enjoy.
This is the Shanghai Film Festival Press Event Trailer for Feng Sheng (The Message) which came out in Asia about two months ago. It was for this movie that Miss Li Bingbing won the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress. Unfortunately this movie has yet to be distributed in the West.
